Although it may not feel like it, summer is almost here, and it’s time for us to prepare for our summer planting. At this work day, we mulched, weeded, and generally prepared for planting.

Brr! This garden workday was a chilly one! Over the winter, the fencing that surrounds our garden fell down due to heavy winds. Before we can start our spring garden, we need to replace it! We spent a chilly morning putting up new fencing and maintaining our garden space. Soon, it’ll be time to plant spring vegetables!
Don’t forget to bring gifts to our next meeting! We will be wrapping gifts to donate to the Katherine Hanley Shelter for teens in temporary housing during the holidays. Community service is always a great way to spread holiday cheer! We would prefer many smaller gifts, but do what feels right to you.
Congratulations to all of our new officers! This marks the start of a great year for 4-H, and we wish you all good luck in your posts. This year, we have Aurora as president, Maryam as vice, Alexa as secretary, and Kelly as treasurer.

The 4-H meeting on October 10th will be the BBQ Harvest Party at the garden plot in South Run Rec Center. Please look for the sign up genius to provide sides and dessert!

After two weeks we went back to paint our pottery. Here are a few of them in progress. They have to be processed for two more weeks before we can get the final products. They look like they will turn out great!
Thanks Mr. Kaneshiro for the great cooking demo of fried rice. We learnt how to cut up the veggies, stir fry the meat just right, and the best way to prepare the rice. Delicious!
We had a great time making bowls at our Jimmy Potters Pottery Class!
First we centered our clay, then we formed the clay into a circle. We learned how to spin the wheel, to use our thumbs to shape the clay, and much more.
